Life Now & Why I Need Your Help

Many of you are aware that our son, Memphis, was diagnosed as high-functioning autistic a few years ago.
Since then, we have had many ups & downs.
He is extremely bright but struggles every day in social settings.  Triggers, both expected & unexpected, can throw him into major meltdowns & he can become quite aggressive.
For the past few weeks, he has been out of school.  Only attending a tutor program at the end of the day for about an hour.  Academically, he's still keeping up.  But his behaviours keep him from functioning well in a classroom setting.

He also suffers from ADHD & anxiety.

Because of all these issues, it was recommended he be admitted to a weekly (24hr) hospitalization at a nearby mental health institute.  We visited the facilities last week and were impressed with the accommodations & staff.  They are hoping his stay will last 5 weeks or less.  And we're excited that he'll be home with us every weekend.

Although this will be a difficult time for our family, we are hoping this will finally get us the answers we need to help him be successful at school, and in life.

While he's away, I am not sure how much I will feel like blogging...  Who knows, maybe it be therapeutic to write & post... but maybe not.

At this time I am waiving my fee for guest posts / giveaways and would be honored and extremely grateful to have you take over my blog for a day.  If you are interested in guest posting or hosting a giveaway, email me at lenabairdATgmailDOTcom to discuss your post!

My blog is a little part of me that I enjoy sharing with others, it would break my heart if I totally neglected it... and it's an opportunity for my readers to get to know each other better too!

  2. I can only imagine how you're feeling right now - even though I can't know exactly. I just know a mother's heart. I'll be thinking about your family, and I know that you have the strength to get through this time. I am absolutely positive about one thing - you are a fantastic mom, and you are doing the best thing you can do for your son. You are helping him have the tools he will need to have a happy, successful future. Blessings.

  12. Oh Lena, my heart aches for you. There is someone in my family that has very similar issues and to you, I have highest regard and respect. I've got a very busy month right now or perhaps I could guest post, but only if you don't have others first. I too am needing to not post as often but can manage my issue (barely). Let me know if you don't have enough, okay? Best to you my new found friend, best to you. ♥

  18. Lena, you know, i read this post through my bloglovin' feed and thought at the time i needed more moments to let it sink in. then those "more moments" turned into a long-ish sojourn of time due to some unforeseen circumstances of my own. apologies. i wanted you to know you've been in my thoughts with everything you're all going through. my heart goes out to you and i'm so, so sorry to hear about the struggles Memphis is facing but the work you're doing to care for him the best ways you know how is tremendous. how strong you are! it's unexplainably difficult to watch our loved ones suffer and see them go through these hardships. i admire your strength in character and the sincere, straightforward way you've handled everything. my thoughts and prayers are with you & your awesome fams!! ♥
