Passion For Fashion #55 : Striped Blazer :

IMG_3110-blog IMG_3111-blog IMG_3122-blog
Blazer (old) & Tank (new): Forever 21 // Pants: Old Navy // Shoes: TOMS

The weather really cooled down again as the week went by.  So much so it warranted a blazer AND booties.  I'm not complaining... at least it isn't snowing, right?  And the weekend weather forecast promises warmer temps and lots of sun!  To be honest, I appreciate any excuse to wear this blazer... I've had it for 3 years now and it's starting to be a little rough around the edges and the button is about to fall off! I definitely got my money's worth from this particular piece, and I'm already on the hunt for a similar jacket for when this one bites the dust.

Floral Dresses With Big Pockets

IMG_3056-blog IMG_3053-blog Floral Dress IMG_3061-blog IMG_3052-blog

Dress: H&M via Rikochet // Bag: A Dash of Fab // Shoes: B.A.I.T // Sunnies: Forever 21

Last weekend I spent a night at my best friend's place in Ottawa. Even though I'm only an hour or so away, I rarely have time to go down and just "hang out."  When I do, our weekend goes a little like this:

Meet up, chat/gossip & catch up.
Grab something to eat... all the while catching up on all those things that are too hard to explain by text or email...
Then we usually rent a scary movie.  The cheesier the better.
It's a sacred tradition of ours.
I think this was our worst pick yet. And there have been some doozies!
Word to the wise, do NOT rent Rubber.  Just don't.
Usually, we end up falling asleep during the movie... party animals, right?  This one was so boring we didn't even make it half way through!
The rest of the visit usually involves shopping, more food and usually one of us gets something pierced or tattooed (not this time, unfortunately).

Saturday morning we were up early (no kids, and we were still up at the crack of dawn!), so we showered and headed out to the Great Glebe Garage Sale.  It was such a beautiful day and I was happy to be in town this weekend to take advantage of it!  I only spent $7! But I snagged a great little basket (perfect for newborn photography) and a bunch of Judy Blume and Goosebumps chapters books for Memphis!

We ate breakfast at the coolest little food truck called Flapjack's... local peeps, you HAVE to check this place out!  By lunchtime we had made our way to a different neighborhood for more food... and shopping!  I bought this H&M floral sundress for $12.  I've been wanting a really comfortable, loose, floral dress for the summer, so I was stoked to come across this!  It also has the best pockets!  I wore it the next day and ripped it... the giant pocket caught on my doorknob and rip the entire seam.  Just my luck... :(
Luckily, my mother-in-law can sew and she thinks she can save it for me!

I know we're half way through the week already, but how was your weekend?

More Denim on Denim

IMG_2493-blog IMG_2498-blog IMG_2501-blog InTheWoods IMG_2507-blog IMG_2490-blog

I've already blogged about my love for denim on denim a few times... Considering I'm Canadian and the look has been affectionately dubbed "The Canadian Tuxedo" it's pretty appropriate, eh?

This particular top is amazing! It has the cutest little cutout in the back that I totally forgot to take pictures of!  Dang it!  It's such a soft, thin & light chambray that it's the perfect denim to pair with my favorite pair of high-waisted, wide-legged denim trousers from The Gap!

After editing this round of all-denim outfit love, I realized I basically just updated my Winter all-denim look for Spring by switching to a sleeveless top and different shoes... I even chose the same shades!

WinterVsSpring

Sooooo... I had this post written & scheduled for this week a few weeks ago... one of my newest fashion blogger finds, Amy Ann of The Real Arnolds, beat me to the punch with her adorable take on this look while in Maui!  She's such a cutie, I'm so happy I stumbled across her blog as I'm sure you will be too! Visit her here and let her know I sent you! I think she'd be tickled to meet a new friend or two!

Passion For Fashion #54 : Pink & Green :

IMG_2888-BLOG IMG_2896-BLOG Skirt

IMG_2895-BLOG

Sunnies: Kate Spade via Winners // Cardigan: Joe Fresh // Bag: Point Zero via Giant Tiger
White Tank: Old Navy // Skirt: Stylish Surprise via ModCloth // Sandals: Old Navy

Ironically enough, this skirt is another Modcloth Stylish Surprise I lucked out on.
{I've featured 2 this week!}

I received this one last Fall and this is the first time I've worn it!  It's a bit big on me... and I really wasn't sure what to pair it with. It's been in my "to donate" pile pretty much since I got it.  After trying on a multiple other outfits and not being happy with any of them (don't you just hate those mornings you can't seem to find anything to wear!?), I spotted the skirt and the whole look just came together!  The fact that the skirt is a size too large is hidden by the length of the cardigan and allowed me to wear it a little lower in the waist, so the length was appropriate for work! Also, because the skirt is a bit big, I actually felt thinner for the day! ;)

Modcloth Stylish Surprise : Fish Print :

IMG_2584-blog IMG_2595-blog FishDress

I got this dress during the last Modcloth "Stylish Surprise" event.
Have you ever purchased a stylish surprise!?  You pay $10 or $15 (I can't remember) and indicate your size, and they send you something!

It's fun because you're never sure what you'll get... obviously you're taking a chance you'll like what they send, but for $10 (or $15)... it's totally worth it!! I've had tremendous success in the past, so I always order something!  This past event didn't disappoint -- This dress is so me!  I love dresses, and I adore a fun & unique print!  When I opened the Modcloth box and pulled this out, I might have a squealed a little!  Perfection!

However...
There's much debate in my house currently about whether the fish print is a tuna or a sardine?  Thoughts?

Old Navy Pencil Skirt

Skirt IMG_2568-blog IMG_2572-blog

I'm a big an of Old Navy... it's cute, affordable and most of their stock fits me just right.
This printed jersey pencil skirt is no exception!
I paired this one with my favorite F21 blazer that I've had for years (similar, similar) and my new nude strappy flats.
It's an easy way to feel dressed up & professional... without feeling like you're dressed up & professional. ;)
I have the skirt in a few different colors & patterns already... when I find something I like, become a bit obsessive.  Anyone else?

I just have to give a quick shout out to my niece Piper who turned 5 last Wednesday.  I love her beyond words and am so proud to be her auntie!  I treated her to her first mani/pedi and she thanked me with a beautiful bouquet of May flowers.  Isn't she the cutest?

Passion For Fashion #53 : Butterflies & Drapey Pants :

IMG_2144-blog
Sunnies: Forever 21 // Top: Urban Planet // Purse: Winner's // Pants: Old Navy // Shoes: Payless
IMG_2138-blog IMG_2141-blog butterfly IMG_2133-blog

Even though this is a "dressier" look for the office, I was probably the most comfortable I've been all week.  These drapey cropped pants might be my new favorite pants.  I might as well be wearing pajama pants... that's how comfy they really are!  And the waist was high enough for me to wear my new cropped butterfly shirt!  It's not an extreme crop, but it definitely requires a higher waisted pant or skirt.  I got a ton of compliments on the top too... Nobody, apparently, can resist a good butterfly print!

#OOTD Fedora Fraud?

IMG_2473-BLOG
Hat: Urban Planet // Sunnies: Forever 21 // Tank: Giant Tiger // Jeans: American Eagle // Shoes: Walmart
IMG_2467-BLOG LoveRevolution IMG_2470-BLOGIMG_2475-BLOG IMG_2466-BLOG

Another typical weekend look for me.  Except for the hat.
I NEVER wear hats because I just think I come off too "boy-ish" most of the time.
(I'm sure I had a different excuse for not wearing hats even when I had long hair)
It's just one of those accessories I can't seem to pull off without feeling like a fraud.  Except I really liked this one.  And it was only $5.  And it was sunny, so I bought it & wore it.
It finishes off the look perfectly, and by the end of the afternoon I almost forgot I was wearing it!

Are there any trends or pieces of clothing you would love to try, but just don't feel comfortable wearing?
