Passion For Fashion #46 : Ready For Rain :

RainBoots

As soon as my spending ban is over (April 15th!!), I'm totally going to need a new pair of rain boots! I just love, love, love that it's "cool" to wear rain boots again. Remember how embarrassed you might have been in high school to wear these? I mean, it was bad enough our parents forced us to wear appropriate boots in the winter... around here, rain boots or "rubber boots" were for farmers only. Only!!  So, needless to say, now that I'm older, wiser & more into fashion... I'm happy this trend is back. Fashionable and functional!

Of course, I think the big names like Hunter & Joules are the ones that most fashion-forward bloggers are talking about... but you can find really cute ones just about anywhere... and for really reasonable prices too! You know I love a deal!  I rounded up a few that I have my eye on... but who knows which pair(s) I'll end up with!

Passion For Fashion #44 : Flashback Friday :

Sooooo. I spazzed on getting new outfit pics this week.  It's been cold, again... and let's face it, my house is a disaster and by no means should be documented here on the blog.  So instead, I'm sharing a look from around this time last year.

I always love looking back and the difference a year can make.  It's also really making me want this exact hairdo again.  *wink*  I shaved the back and sides last week... but not quite as high up as last year.  I'm thinking I might just go for it again, and going platinum blonde again.  I need a fun change!

How has your style changed in the past year?

The First 5 Pounds : a weight loss journey :

I realized today that I hadn't shared anything about my weight loss journey here yet.
Two & a half weeks ago I purchased a 3-month subscrition to Weight Watcher's Online Program.

I've "struggle" with my weight for the past few years.  To be honest, my whole life I was tall & thin.
As I got older, my body changed little by little but it wasn't a "bad" thing.  I loved my new curves.
At 5'7" I was comfortable with my 135-140 lbs. When I was pregnant with Memphis, I gained about 80 lbs and was 211 lbs at my last checkup.  I had been retaining a lot of water, so after he was born I lost most of the weight easily.  Nursing him helped too.  Again, my body had changed... but I was proud of the reason why.  I was back to 140 lbs when I got pregnant with Ruby... I gained 45 lbs that pregnancy.  Again... Just a few days after she was born I easily fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes:

My weight stayed relatively the same for the next few years.  I never really "had to" exercise or watch what I ate...

The past 2 or 3 years, though, have been a different story.  Again, I was getting older and my body was changing.  I knew I was gaining weight, but instead of doing something about it, I just made sure to buy larger clothes.  Looking back, the weight gain definitely started when Memphis started acting out and his behaviors started causing problems at daycare & school.  It was totally stress-related.  Without a doubt.  Unfortunately, even with a diagnosis, things weren't easy.  It has taken us years to get Memphis on the right medication & to know the right interventions to help him get through his days.  Oh, my husband also suffered a major depression during that time and it was hard on all of us.  Emotionally & financially.

I started hating my body, but instead of getting into a healthy routine, I continued hiding it with cute clothes...

I'm tired of not being comfortable and have finally made the decision to get healthy.
I'm not even setting a "goal weight."  I would love to be able to say I lost 30 lbs... but what I want is to feel good, look good and be happy with my body again.  Maybe that'll happen 10 lbs from now... maybe 35.  I just know that I've lost the first 5 and it feels great!

What I love about Weight Watchers is that I'm still able to eat my favorite meals & foods... in smaller portions and with a better attitude.  The fact that I paid for a subscription means I will hold myself accountable for what I eat... I'm cheap that way.  ;)

I'm stocking the fridge with lots of fruits & veggies and making sure I don't bring home any foods I would be tempted to eat that I shouldn't... so far, so good!!  Wish me luck!

Kissy Face Emoji, Kissy Face Emoji, Kissy Face Emoji

We all love Jimmy Fallon, right?  He always has THE.BEST celebrity segments ever.
Last week, my favorite actor from The Walking Dead, the devilishly handsome Norman Reedus (aka Daryl Dixon) made an appearance to read some romantic text messages via BroApp (it's a ridiculous new app)...

Needless to say, I might have giggled & swooned just a little...

Love them!!

Passion For Fashion #43 : Pants :

Tunic & Pants: Gap / Boots: Aldo (bought second-hand from a friend!)
Confession: I've been wearing LOTS of pants lately. That might not seem out of the ordinary to most... but I live in dresses about 80% of the time. Usually.  I think I'm just so sick of having to layer and wear tights... this winter has been long, and I'm really looking forward to bare legged and cute shoes & sandals. Just like by mid-August I'm anxious to pull out my tights and boots.

Canadian Tuxedo AND an oNecklace Review

I hadn't heard of the term "Canadian Tuxedo" before last year... which is funny, because I am Canadian, afterall.  For those of your unfamiliar with the term, it's basically a way to describe a head to toe denim look. Do Canadians do this more than others?  I don't know.  But I do know that there is a right & wrong way to do it.

The trick is to keep it simple and not be too "matchy-matchy."
This time I paired a darker pair of denim trousers with a lighter, polka-dot, chambray shirt.

My favorite part of this whole look, though, is my new oNecklace!
As someone with a less common name, growing up I was always disappointment that I couldn't find anything with my name on it.  You know, little personalized trinkets...

When I discovered the oNecklace website, I finally got what I always wanted! My name on a silver chain... very "Sex in the City," no?  I actually chose the "Carrie" style in silver!

If you want your own personalized necklace, I would highly recommend oNecklace!  Free worldwide shipping, excellent prices and exceptional customer service made ordering & dealing with oNecklace a real pleasure!
