Confessions of a Shoe Addict

My name is Lena and I'm a shoe addict.
I know it.

I recently purchased two new shoe racks.
My son thought I was crazy for putting both in the cart... "But Mommy, it says it fits 40 pairs of shoes, I think you only need one." Um... no, silly child.  I was actually a bit nervous that 2 might not be enough.

I don't really think my love for shoes is a problem.
I think of it as more of a collection, really.
I don't own a ton of jewelry, opting to accessorize my outfits with my choice of shoe.  I have them in all sorts of colors, patterns & styles.  Wedges, flats & heels.... ankle, mid-calf, knee-high and EVEN a thigh-high pair of boots! A little bit of everything.  From Converse to stilettos, there's a perfect shoe for pretty much any outfit I can put together.

a cute pair of folksy flats from Modcloth... great way to add a feminie touch to any outfit!

And the best part is I've paid less than $20 a pair on average... I'm a sucker for a good sale.  And if I see a cute shoe with a pretty little price tag, I'm hard pressed NOT to take advantage of a good deal.
My favorite place to shop for shoes is Payless, and I'd guess that at least 70% of my collection is from that
store.  With affordable prices, sales & sales on sales (BOGO anyone?), I can easily walk out of there with 2 or more pair of shoes for $20-$25.

If I'm being honest, I don't know how some people can only own a couple pairs.  As much as I love shoes, I have yet to come across a pair that would match with everything...

these TOMS wedges in camel go with *almost* everything!
a fun pair of wedges are a must-have for Summer

And sometimes I buy shoes that aren't even that comfortable.  These are "special occasion" shoes... or shoes I know I won't actually have to wear for long.  It's okay to have a few of these... It's okay to suffer a little for fashion.  As long as your feet aren't bleeding or blistering by the end of the day or night.  By uncomfortable, I don't mean unwearable... just only wearable for a few hours max. *wink*

these were a steal on Ebay... they have lightnight bolts on them.  I couldn't resist!  **always so weird to look at old photos of my feet without tattoos!**
So, who's with me?
Anyone need to admit to their own little shoe "addiction"... no judging here!

  1. I am a pretty huge fan of shoes--though I think my collection is tiny compared to yours. Shoes are always what I find most tempting when shopping, and I love the most when I wear them! And it's true, there's not many shoes that match everything...but Converse probably come pretty close!

  3. I *want* to be a shoe addict. But I just can't bring myself to give up comfort. So, I wear the same pair of shoes with everything. Thankfully, they're a cute pair of chunky Doc Marten mary janes and they seem to work. I own four pairs of shoes total; black mary janes, black teva flip flops, black loafers, and a pair of sneakers.

  4. I wouldn't say I have a huge shoe collection (though my fiance might think otherwise) but you totally need to have options! I don't know how people have just a few pairs of shoes either!

  5. Definitely with you! I'm afraid to count my shoes because of the number I have. And I would definitely need a second shoe rack too. Haha, Happy Tuesday!

  6. Honestly, I love your shoe collection. I used to have a small one but that has shrunk considerably since we got a very chewy dog. At one point she was hunting out and destroying at least one pair a week. That first pair are possibly the cutest pair of shoes I have ever seen xo

  7. Hi, my name is Jo and I'm a shoe addict! I LOVE LOVE LOVE shoes! And I totally agree with you that you can't ever have enough. I don't spend a lot of money on my shoes, they tend to last for years so I don't feel guilty about how many pairs I have, I have been collecting for ages. At the moment Cat & I wear the same size shoe so my shoe collection has doubled, yay!

  8. I have a LOT of pairs and they´re scattered everywhere because my shoe closet can only have about 18 pairs. My husband even sneaks a few pairs once in a while to donate to church without telling me and everytime I find out about it I buy two more to teach him a lesson not to mess with my shoes. ;)

  9. Totally! I have mine neatly organized -- I *am* a librarian! -- and I have lots. I haven't counted lately (it's more than 40, I know) but I have at least 15 pairs of black shoes alone. And I wear every single pair! I'm with you, that some of the shoes are special-occasion pairs. And I like to think that I'm getting to the point now where I have a shoe for every occasion -- and pant length, tall or cropped. I often start my outfits with the shoes -- and what kind of comfort level I need from said shoes. And I was TOTALLY nodding my head all through your post.

I did a fun experiment about a year ago with showcasing all my shoes up to that point here in this post, http://librarianforlifestyle.wordpress.com/2012/08/07/bonus-just-me-and-my-shoes/ . Spoiler alert: I like wedges.

    Great post!
