Has Blogging Made Me Conceited?

Today, Jenni is asking us to discuss ways blogging and/or social media has changed us.

I'd like to think it hasn't.  I still feel very much like "me."  I believe in the same values I did BEFORE I started blogging, my sense of humor has remained intact and I still haven't gotten any better in the kitchen or at DIY projects.  BUT I do take an awful lot of pictures of myself.

Seriously.  I feel a certain need to document my outfits... I dress knowing whether or not I'll actually have time to take "outfit pics" or not.  Wouldn't want to waste a perfectly good outfit, right?

Yes, I have definitely become more confident & comfortable with "my style."  I've gained so much confidence from other bloggers who aren't afraid to take risks.  The best fashion bloggers aren't the ones that can afford all those expensive brands... but the ones who have fun with fashion and take pride in expressing their personal style.  I'd like to think that I'm slowly becoming part of that "clique."

But why?  Do I really care what other people think of the way I dress?  Not really.  Sure, I might post a couple outfits a week that get a few compliments online, but I definitely don't make a point of dressing to impress anyone I come across on a daily basis.  I am who I am.  I dress the way I dress.  You like it or you don't...

Does posting a dozen pictures of myself every week on my blog make me conceited?

Before I became a blogger, I'd probably think "yes."  But now I like to think of it as being really happy with who I am right now.  I'm having fun with fashion & with blogging and some day when I'm old, I'll be able to look back on the sassy & confident chick I was in my thirties.

So, if you are asking me how blogging has changed me... it's taken a quiet & creative young lady and turned her into a confident & adventurous young woman.  There's nothing wrong with that!

  1. I don't think it makes one conceited at all - all the pics I post are for future days I can reference back to to my blog and see what life was like at that point....hard to do without pics! lol

  2. I love this explanation for it! You're right. If you think about it, people who aren't confident with themselves usually aren't as happy to have their photo taken. It just shows that we are happy and loving who we are! Great post.

  5. Well, you look marvelous today, my dear.

I think blogging has changed me; for the better. I am less cynical and more positive. and ...since posing my clothes I feel like I needed to lose weight where otherwise I thought I was fine. Interesting how that happens, when I am deciding what pics to place and such.

I'll be at your meme tomorrow!!!

  8. Well said, Lena. I agree that it's more a confidence thing than conceit. I just really enjoy fashion and it's fun sharing my ideas with others.

  11. Lena,
I would never ever say you are conceited, at all! But I can understand where you're coming from. It can feel indulgent - and I'm still very self-conscious of my outfit pictures. But the feedback I get from other bloggers gives me more confidence. I'm not sharing these pics to impress anyone - just to express my creativity in a different way. I love your outfit posts! Please don't ever stop.

  13. Oh, it's like you're right inside my brain echoing my thoughts. For some reason, I too want to document my outfits! Does it make us conceited? Not at all. I think we all know our flaws, photographing them makes us real!
