Hits & Misses :: Grammys 2013 ::

I know, I know... everyone & their mother is blogging and/or tweeting about The Grammys.
Truth is, the main reason I tune into any awards show is for the fashion.

I knew the Grammys had issued some sort of dress code this year, so I was excited to see how the stars were going to wow us.   Time to get creative, people!

Unfortunately, I have to say, I wasn't very impressed.
The whole thing was very ho hum. Agreed?

HITS

I loved everything about Solange Knowles' look.  The dress is perfection.  The hair is fabulous.  And the contrasting shoes!?  My favorite of the night!!

Adored this look on Beyoncé. Simple, yet sassy.  I usually prefer dresses on the red carpet, but this look is so chic!

I love the cut of Kelly Osbourne's dress... & I like that she paired it with simple yellow accessories.  I'm so jealous of her lavendar hair.  Cutie!

MISSES

This dress really annoyed me!  The ''slit'' didn't even look like a slit... it looked like half the bottom part of her dress was missing.

Poor Adele.  She's one of the most gorgeous women EVER... but this look was wrong for the Grammys.  Maybe if it was longer and sleeveless, she could have made it work.  I actually love the print!

Pretty girl. Rockin' outfit... but again, not for The Grammys.  Heck, I get dressed up for a trip to the grocery store... you can't even imagine how much fun I'd have dressing up for something like this!

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Florence Welch looked stunning and the dress is amazing... I think it was her makeup/lipstick that didn't do it for me.  She gets a B+ for stepping outside the box, though!!

Another beautiful dress... another gorgeous shade of green.  Just a little too much boob, Katy Perry!  Kudos for challenging the dress code!!

I have to admit that I thought Rihanna looked stunning, but I'm not pleased she was there with Chris Brown.  Tacky.  So, she doesn't make the list!  ;)

Anyone else think it's cute that Taylor Swift actually looks like she's having a good time!?

What  was your favorite & least favorite outfit of the night!?
Feel free to comment with a link to your Grammy recap!

  1. I agree with your picks overall! I really liked Rihanna (probably my favorite), but get your disqualification of her :) I also loved the color and what Karlie Koss had on (Michael Kors) but wish it was longer. Kimbra would be one I would add to worst dressed - she looked like Tinker Bell gone bad.

  2. Loved so many looks from last night... Love Katy's dress but agree it left nothing for the imagination. Beautiful colors and lots of accessories!

  3. Oh... Katy Perry... You're beautiful but you don't need to flaunt what you've got like that! We already know you have what other girls wish they had...

I love these sorts of posts :D

  4. Rhianna was my favourite, along with Beyonce but I really didn't like Adele's dress, old fashioned, made her look older and fatter than she is, I usually love her look too. I also did a little Grammys post here..

  6. I loved Solange's dress and of course only Beyonce could rock a pantsuit on the red carpet. As a side note, I heard this morning on GMA that there was a "dress code" to be followed per CBS. That maybe why the red carpet was a little ho-hum this year.

  7. Rhianna was my favorite for best dressed in that stunning red number. But I totally agree that I'm so disappointed that she's back with Chris Brown.

  8. I did not watch the Grammy's (I don't watch award shows, generally...or, you know, TV), so thank you for this, which IS my recap. :)

I like Katy Perry's gown! The keyhole with jeweled details, and that mint green, is gorgeous.

Adele's dress is too frumpy, though. It needs to have some sort of neckline and/or different sleeves (which, fitted and long-sleeved, did not go with the 1950's style of the frock). Overall, it makes her looks 20 years older than she is. :(

And, I may be totally behind the world here, but....who is Solange Knowles? She looks fabulous as well, and age-appropriate.

  9. I didn't get to see them because we were moving and have no TV hooked up yet, so thanks for posting.

My favorite absolutely on your post is Solange too! Fab-u-lous!

Looks like my tastes are pretty much aligned with yours from what I see here. I was nodding my head and saying yes, yes, and exactly to everything you said.
