What I Wore {Wedding Edition}

Today, Megan is celebrating her 7th wedding anniversary!
She has asked us all to link up our wedding day looks to help her celebrate!  Fun, right?

{Wishing you & your husband a lovely day... and many more years to come, sweetie!}

My wedding day took place on October 16, 2010... nearly 14 years to the day that I started dating my man.
To be honest, weddings aren't a huge deal to me.
I'm low-key and pretty private, so the idea of a huge wedding never appealed to me.

I thought the hubs and I would end up in Vegas someday and have Elvis marry us.  But on a whim, urged on my little sis, we decided to finally tie the knot!
Oh, and we only gave ourselves 8 weeks to pull it all together!
It was a beautiful day.
Small, intimate and perfect.

For what it's worth, I cannot for the life of me remember the designer's name for my dress.
All I know is that I got it off the rack for $300 and it fit!
My shoes for $20 and I found them on Ebay!
The only accessories I wore was a ribbon in my hair for $30 and a $10 pair of earrings from Payless!

I did feel really pretty on my wedding day & that is what counts, right!?

This is what I wore...

I painted my nails dark, and used OPI's "Eiffel For This Color"

The other ladies in the wedding looked pretty darn good too!!
{they got their dresses, off the rack, at the same time as I got mine... it was fate}

The brooch on my sister's dress was found at the local "thrift shop" and it just added the right amount of sparkle she needed!

For anyone planning a wedding, this is proof that you can look good {if I do say so myself!} on a budget!

We're totally pimping out my brother-in-law's BMW here! Swanky!

So, what did you wear on your wedding day?
Or what did you wear that was totally fabulous to someone else's wedding?
Join in on the fun here!

{I edited these to look older! ha!
They're actually quite bright & crisp IRL!}

Easy Editing!

Picnik is no more... as of April 19th, it's been gone.
And guess what!?  I'm surviving.
More than that... I'm actually excited!
About Picmonkey!

I'm totally in love with this editing site.
It's easy and so much fun to use.

I was going to do a tutorial, since many of you have asked me about what I use to edit my photos... but it's really very simple.
Just pull up a photo you want to play around with, and experiment!
If you're like me, you'll see that you go back to the same presets over & over again just because they rock and they help you achieve the style that is "you."

For example, check out this original photo of me watching my niece playing with some sidewalk chalk....

By cropping it just a tad & using the Film Stock "Tri-X" preset
along with a little Fancy Focus (I chose Piper as my focal point), it becomes this:

I love the simplicity & rawness of this shot now!

I decided I wanted to try another look...
so I went with the Dusk preset {one of my faves} with the same Fancy Focus on Piper..

 What a difference, right?
The best part is you really don't have to be a professional to figure it out!
I could spend hours on there tweaking my shots and never get bored.

Have you tried it out?
I think once they get a "collage" option it will be PERFECT!

What photo editing sites are you using since Picnik left!?

I'm linking up the last shot over at Our Reflection's weekly challenge:

Our Reflection Photo Challenge

{I know I'm cheating a bit, the post is supposed to only contain one photo, but "technically" it is just one, right? Have you linked up yet? There are some great entries and Laura is always kind enough to offer prizes for first, second & third place winnings!}

While you're there checking out the photo challenge, take a peak at my guest post/giveaway from yesterday too!!

Dirty Secret Saturday {a blog hop}

Welcome to another edition of Dirty Secret Saturday.
This is a linky party just for you.  To get all those secrets off your chest.
It can be funny, it can be heartbreaking, it can be real.
It just has to be all yours.
We want all the dirt.
All that we ask in return is you give us some bloggy love, and share this button on your post.
Then let all your friends via Twitter and Facebook know we're partying it up over here!

Your hosts are:
and Chrissy from A Lil Dash of Diva

Let's get down to business, shall we....

I'm here today to tell you that my kids annoy me!

NOT all the time.  NOT even most of the time.
But they sure know how to get on my very.last.nerve.

I love to pretend that I'm patient parent.
I am... to an extent.
After hearing "Mommy!Mommy!Mommy!Mommy!" all day long and picking up the same toys over & over again, and having to ask the same question 5 times in a row before I'm even acknowledged eventually takes it's toll, and I feel like I just can't take it anymore.

There are times {very few & far between} when I like to relax in a nice bubble bath.
How many of those times are not interupted. NEVER.
Me: "What?"
Kids: "I want juice."
Me: "Where's your father?"
Kids: "Downstairs."
Me: "Why don't you ask him for juice?"
Kids: "Cuz I want you to get it for me!"

Okay, that's a bad example. I probably look like a horrible parent for getting annoyed at that... but it's the little things.  Ruby's constant "screaming" - she's VERY loud, Memphis' constant "fact spewing" - he can literally talk your ear off about the same thing for a good part of the day... It all never ends!

They are consistent, and persistent little people!

Most days, these quirks are "cute."
On a bad day, they're "annoying."

Don't get me wrong...
I LOVE my kids more than anything, and would rather settle for complaining about them sometimes than not having them at all!  They are my world!
As much as they do bug me some days, the minute I'm away from them I miss them like crazy!

PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one who feels like this sometimes!
{let it be known my hubby annoys me on occasion too! ha}

Who watches New Girl?
Do you remember the "McMouse" conversation this week's episode!?
"Nadia and Schmidt’s date is odd, conversation is difficult as proven by a very odd exchange between the two in which Nadia continually mentions liking McMouse, which Schimdt eventually figures out is Mickey Mouse, but not without a lot of yelling." {source}
Well, it totally rocked!
I laughed so hard!
And it inspired this week's Fashion Friday post!

Kristen H.! Congrats!}

Hubby sent me specifically to the store for that, and I came back with 3 bags of groceries... no croutons

LOVED the Queen songs they covered!

She'll be nearly 33 weeks pregnant by then, and definitely deserves one!
(I'm totes getting one too!!)

Her basketball belly, taken a few weeks ago! My little niece is in there! :)

The Last Thing I Complained About
Probably laundry... it's never ending! The hubs is good at doing it, but I get stuck putting it all away!

little things, big moments

April has been a BIG month for us here.
At the beginning of the month, my little girl got her ears pierced and that was a HUGE deal.
It was a great day, and she's still so proud of her new earrings.

And then... earlier this week, my son lost his very first tooth!!

Memphis was pretty impressed with the tooth fairy.
She left him $10!!
He's already been warned that this big "bounty" is reserved for the "First Tooth" and to expect much less the next time!  Ha!

I have to admit, I've been having a lot of mommy moments about it all.
First the ear piercing, now teeth are falling out!?

These "little things" are really big moments for them.
They are proud and excited about the changes they are going through.
I am too, of course.
But it all just means they are growing up.

Here's the deal.
I don't cook.
It's not that I haven't tried... I just usually suck at it.
I'm not being modest either!  I promise I'm just not cut out for the kitchen!

{LUCKILY, the hubs is an awesome chef so we eat really well!}

I did try a recipe once that got some pretty good reviews from the fam!
It's "My Meatloaf"
and it's one of our faves!
{especially on a cold, rainy & lazy Sunday}

I've tweaked it a tad, but I thought I would share it with you today!

What you'll need

lean ground beef (I use about 2lbs)
2 cups of bran cereal
2/3 cups BBQ sauce (I use Kraft Light)
2 eggs
1 onion
1 red pepper
1 carrot

heat the oven to 375
Mix cereal, BBQ sauce & eggs until well blended, then add the rest of the ingredients

I use a nice glass pan and coat the top of the meatloaf with more BBQ sauce! So yummmmm!

Bake for 1 hour, and enjoy!
This week I served it with cripsy french fries & vegetables (not shown! ha!), but it's also great with rice or homemade mashed potatoes!  I love it because it's a great way to sneak in veggies & bran without anyone really noticing! And it's EASY!

Please excuse this lame attempt at a recipe post...
but DO try out this recipe and let me know what you think of it!

Maybelline FIT Foundation {my number is 120} and I LOVE it!
Cover Girl Face Powder, for sensitive skin

Powda Wowza... ADORE it!
I got it in a Luxe Box (similar to your Birch Box) and I don't know what I'd do without it! I'm going to have to figure out where to get it on my own once I'm done with it!

E.L.F eyeshadow SUPER affordable!

Maybelline mascara... I've tried other brands, but I always come back to this one.
Great Lash, Washable in Brownish Black.

Okay... I lied.
I'm also a big fan of Lise Watier 24 hrs Glam Mascara that I also got in a Luxe Box.
This is a treat.
EOS lipbalm. Best ever.
I have both the "honeysuckle honeydew" {above} & "sweet mint" and keep one in my purse & the other on my nightstand. ♥
Nail polish remover is a necessity around here!

pHisoderm face wash is one of the best I've found. I have sensitive, combination, acne-prone skin and I've tried almost everything out there! 'sigh'
