Zip!

This weekend, I faced my fears and I'm happy to say I lived to tell the tale.
Okay, I shouldn't be quite so overly dramatic, but it's kinda true.

I'm not very fond of heights.
I'm not deathly afraid of them, but I feel much better with both my feet planted firmly on the ground.
I'm not overly adventurous, either. I don't crave the rush of adrenaline that comes with certain activities. I'm a pretty simple gal.

This weekend, though, my brother-in-law & his partner talked me into going ziplining!

We are lucky to be blessed with a beautiful park nearby that provides this service... I've just never been brave enough to try it!  The package we took was the ''In The Trees'' package which included 8 ziplines tree to tree, 280 m (918ft) in length and varying 8-12 m (26-40ft) in height.

filled out the necessary paperwork and got fitted with my harness.

Then it was time to start climbing... and climbing.
Climbing the ladders was the worst part.
It was hot and I was nervous, so my palms were sweaty.
You have to clip yourself in as you go {you can't ever not be attached}, so that was tricky too.

Once I started, I didn't stop.
I knew the only way to get back down was to finish the course as quickly as I could!!
That's definitely what kept me going.
"Just do it, and you never have to do it again!"

Once I past the 1st zipline, the rest were easy!
That part was actually quite FUN!

I couldn't have asked for a better afternoon... I am happy to say that I conquered my fear and survived my first zipline experience... but I probably won't ever do it again! Ha!

My friend did the canyon zips... but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Once my feet were back on the ground, that's where they were going to say.
The view was breathtakingly beautiful though!!

What are you afraid of?
Could you face it!?

  1. I am terrified of heights - but I went ziplining in Thailand on our honeymoon. I had shaky knees and sweaty hands the entire time.

The canyon zip looks amazing - except do you have to walk along rock the wall to get to it? Also did you have a guide with you?

  3. I originally thought you went bungee jumping and there is no way that I would do that. Ziplining I've done, 20 ft course, 10 feet off the ground. What you did, incredible. I'll pass and live vicariously through you. Thanks for the trip.

  8. I zip-lined in Costa Rica, and as soon as I scaled the tree, I was like "wait, who is regulating and monitoring this, I'm in Costa Rica for God's sake!". But really my only option was to jump, and really the first jump is the hardest, then it's just fun!

  9. Looks beautiful and sounds like wonderful fun too, but I'm also afraid of heights. I think I might panic just climbing up that tree to the landing.

Glad you had fun, faced your fear, and conquered. Good on you!

  17. My biggest fear is heights! I am literally getting dizzy just reading this. That's how scared I am. Shoot the ladder in the first zip lining pic scares me...a lot!
