Ombré Nails

Okay, so we didn't go out last night afterall...
BUMMER!
The hubs had a crazy week at work {the restaurant where he works as head chef just opened on Thursday, so there was a lot of prep and it being opening weekend was just bad timing!}... and he was asleep embarrassingly EARLY!

I had "me" time to spare since the kids had already gone to their grandparents for a sleepover... so I decided to out this ombré nail trend I've been seeing online!

My actual plan had been to pick up 5 new shades of polish the next time I was out... but since we didn't go anywhere, I rummaged through my polish stash and came up with this color combo.
In French "Ombré" means shaded, so the trick is to find the right shades and simply apply from darkest to lightest!
{There are some amazing tutorials out there with different techniques for ombré nails, this is by far the simplest... but still really cute!}

The shades I used:
Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails "Going Green"
Jordana "Boy oh Boy"
Sally Hansen's Insta-dri "Mint Sprint"
OPI's "What's With The Cattitude"
Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails "Mint Sorbet"

It was trial & error and required several "re-dos" to get the right look... but I'm super happy with how it turned out!! Especially since I was able to use polish I already had!

I love finding fun & easy new trends to try with nail polish!
Have you tried the ombré look yet?

  3. super cute! Did you try or going to try the Ombre mani that you use a makeup sponge to get it all on one nail. It took me a couple tries but once I got it it was easy and looked fantastic.
