a thought

I love everything about this quote.
Books mean a great deal to me.
I have yet to get an e-reader, because I think I would miss the feeling of a big heavy book in my hands!
It's something I've always enjoyed.  Curling up with a good book is one of the best things ever.

Happily, it seems as though I've passed this love of books to my son.

But, Memphis loves books for another reason, I think.
It comes from a natural thirst for knowledge,  a need to really "know" things.  Not just a good story.  But facts & truths as well.

He LOVES learning.
Books are very important to him, and the library is one of his favorite places to visit.
There is comfort in knowing the answer is in one of them.  No matter what the question is.

I think part of this is a "symtom" of whatever it is he is going through right now, but that's okay because it's a part of who he is.  We already call him our little professor, or our little database!
I have no doubt Memphis will do great things, and go very many places (probably with a book tucked away in a pocket!)

Thanks again, Dr. Seuss!
Brilliant, as always!

{p.s. today is a BIG day for us. Memphis is being evaluated for the first time this afternoon... I have no idea what to expect, but it's a big step in the right direction.  if all goes well, the evaluation might be completed as early as the end of next weekl  we are getting closer & closer to finally having a diagnosis & answers!!}

  1. So exciting! My cousin is the same way. Lately he's been into all kinds of cars books. He just consumes the information and spits it right out at you. So happy Memphis is growing his knowledge and learning more is out there. Good luck with the evaluation. I'll say a little prayer!

  3. Good luck with the evaluation! I feel the same way about books, reading them on my ereader just isn't the same. But when you live in a foreign country and you move as much as we do it's an unfortunate side affect :(

  9. What a wonderful post. I have the same passion for reading and hope I am passing that on to my son.

    I got an ereader for my birthday even though never thought I would want one. but I adore it, feels better in my hands and no dry hands from the paper (paper is very drying to the skin). plus you can browse book selections all day all night to your hearts content wherever you are! xx
