10 Things I Love

Ashley at The Johnstons tagged me in her "10 Things I Love" post.  Exciting stuff!
 The rules are simple:

State Who Tagged You:

Ashley is a friend that I went to high school with. She was younger than me, but we had some mutual friends (and it's a VERY small town, so you know everyone!).  I've gotten to know her a lot better through blogging and other social medias and this is what I know:  She's a super cool girl with a great family, and a the handsomest son (seriously, ladies lock up your daughters... he's going to be a heartbreaker!).

State 10 Things You Love:

1. My family.  Without a doubt.  My hubby and kids are more than I could have asked for.  And they say that you can't pick your family, but I think I lucked out. Big time.  They're not perfect, but they're there for me when I need them.  I couldn't be who I am without them!  ♥

2. Montages.  {Especially when they're in slow mo}, and more often than not... the ones of old people falling down get me every time!  I know that sounds HORRIBLE, and obviously I don't want anyone to get hurt, but America's Funniest Videos always puts together the best ones!  Hubby thinks I'm nuts... but I've almost peed my pants watching them!  Like this one here.

3. Reading.  I used to read all the time, but after having my kids I found it really hard to "find the time" to enjoy a good book.  Now that the kids are older and I'm not 100% exhausted by the time they go to bed, I've been able to get through a few good books over the last couple of months.  Really get into reading again!  And I'm thinking of joining a book club through the local library.

4. Celebrity gossip.  For the most part, very entertaining.  I really love following celebrity pregnancies and hearing all the crazy names they come up with!  There are some "news" stories that I'm surprised can still make any sort of headline. Lindsay Lohan, for example.  Really?  Who cares.  And most recently, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian.   Tacky, no?  Not that cheating is uncommon in Hollywood, but I just think the constant Twitter updates & PDA's were a bit much.  And hasn't she gotten way too skinny!?

5. Anything handmade - especially jewelry & clothes.  Which is why I'm such an Etsy junkie.  I spend hours every week adding things to my cart virtual window shopping.  And my sister is learning to knit, which is super cool.  When she feels up to it, I might ask her to make me this:

6. Photography.  Both mine and others.  I've always loved taking pictures, and I don't even think I'm even an ''amateur'' status yet, but I'm starting to learn a bit more about my camera and with the help of Picnik, I'm having a lot of fun playing around with different ''looks.''  And I LOVE checking out other people's photography, especially on their blogs.  So many talented people out there!

7. Pinup / Rockabilly hairstyles.  So wish I could pull something like this off.  Beautiful.  I can't do anythign with my hair... but if I could, it would be something like this:

8. Organization.  Being organized is important to me.  I'm not necessarily a huge list maker, but I have an agenda and I use it.  I would be LOST without my Google calendar!  I don't like going into anything 'unprepared.'

9. Michael C. Hall.  He gave us David Fisher AND Dexter Morgan.  Need I say more!?

 10. Being barefoot.  I hate having to wear socks.  Another reason to love the warmer weather!

So, there you have it.  10 random things that I love.  I think the rules are for me to tag 10 more people... but most of the people I would tag have been tagged by someone else.  So, instead I'm just going to say...
TAG!  You're it!

I SPY: Shoes & Jewelry

Since I LOVE shoes, and own some jewelry (I've never been much of a jewelry person... but I'm trying!), I decided to link up with little miss momma for her I SPY series... Shoes & Jewelry is this week's theme.

So here are a few of my favorite pairs of shoes. If you know me, I have sooooo many, so it was hard to narrow them down.  I basically grabbed the few that were easiest to reach!  I ♥ all my shoes, though!  :)

My fave 'Chucks' - will probably NEVER get rid of these!

A sampling of my flats.  Sucker for 'em.

Little flip flops. ♥

My favorite pair.
As far as jewelry goes, I wear my wedding band every day, and always a pair of earrings.
Here are some I got for a steal through a Heartsy deal a few weeks ago (from Jacaranda Designs)

And a couple that I wear most often...

We Want To Know - When Random Madness Takes Over

Second week linking up with Seriously Shawn, Impulsive Addict, Janette and Mamarazzi for WWTK.  Today, Shawn is asking the questions... so here I go!

1.} What is the first thing you notice about the opposite sex? Are you an eyes or a smile person? Maybe another body part?
I appreciate the "overall look." A guy needs good hair, nice eyes and a cute smile!  And I'm definitely drawn to more "manly" men.  I don't mind a scruffy beard or stubble!  And it doesn't hurt if he looks anything like Gerard Butler, Joaquin Phoenix or Vince Vaughn... ;)

2.} If a movie was being made about you, who would you like to see cast to play you? And would your movie be a comedy, drama, romantic-comedy, action film or a horror movie?
I've been compared to Juliette Lewis, and I LOVE her, so it would be cool if she were cast to play me... and I think it would have to be a comedy.  Luckily, nothing overly dramatic happens around here!  :)

3.} Does your high school yearbook include a senior comment section? If so, share what you said about your future goals. Have you met those goals? If you do not have a yearbook, just share what your goals were when you were 18 and if you have met them. If you’re brave enough, include your Senior picture!
I'd have to dig my yearbooks out of storage for this one, but I'm pretty sure my goals were to be living happily in the country (which I'm sorta doing) and  my advice to "Be Kind. Rewind."  Ha!  Would any kid know what the even means nowadays?  I feel so old!
4.} What latest trend simply baffles you?
Harem pants. They look "cool" on a runway, but I don't think anyone can truly pull these off in real life.

5.} When you walk into a room how do you present yourself? Do you walk in with confidence and command the attention of others or do you slink in and do your best to go unnoticed?
I prefer to slink in - I hate being the center of attention!

Cutest Pants Ever Award goes to...

Ruby's new Stripey Blue Ruffle Knit Pants from smallbeans!

I put in a custom order at this fab Etsy shop a little while back and was so excited to finally get it in the mail (I also got a pair of these adorable pants in brown, and 2 pairs of Fancy Pants in red & purple!).
I was not disappointed!  The stuff is gorgeous and the seller was super great to work with.  If you have a little princess who likes dress-up as much as Ruby does, head on over & check out smallbeans

Into My Own Hands?

I'm very seriously debating taking my hair color into my own hands.  Literally.

I recently went from blond (basically my natural color with added highlights) to brunette, and even though I went back twice to the hair dressers and "thought" I was happy. I'm not.  It's just a shade or two lighter than what I'm really wanting.  This is a big commitment.  I've already made the jump and gone darker, and I know I want to stay a brunette for a long time (I'm so sick of the blond), BUT my roots still come in way lighter which means more trips to the hairdresser than usual and more $$.  Not cool for my budget. 'sigh'

Back in the day, I always used store bought dye and did it myself.  I NEVER had any disastrous results and my hair was always healthy looking.  Back then, I mostly used the L'Oreal Paris Féria  brand... I remember it always smelling soooo good!  And I was actually going red back then, which is super tricky.  I haven't been down the hair color aisle in forever... does Féria still exist?

This was an ad that was around when I was ''self-dyeing''
So, my question is:  Do I do it at home, or spend $50+ every 4 weeks or so by going to the hairdresser? Also, should be noted that my hairdresser is pregnant and due in September... not sure when she'll be returning, or how easy it will be to find another hair dresser I trust with my color and could take me as often as I need... for the right price.

Window Shopping: Online

I love to shop. Even when I don't have any money, or don't really "need" anything, I could easily spend an entire day window shopping.  Trouble is (or probably a blessing in disguise) that I live in a very small town, far away from any mall or major retail center.  No problem. That's why the internet was invented, right?

I go in spurts, I get major crushes on certain items, and can spend a lot of time on Google, Ebay and Etsy trying to find the perfect one.  Well, my new obsession... clogs!  So cute!

After a quick search online this afternoon, I came across these:

Floral!  So girly!  Can you imagine how cute they'd be with the right sundress or denim mini skirt!?

So "Sandy from Grease", no?  Love the red pair!

Now these are the kind I would break my neck wearing... but it would be sooooo worth it!

I'm in love! ♥
Anyone else crushing on these!?

(alright, back to my regular mom duties... "quiet" time is OVER!)

Today's Recap

Was thinking of getting a bit more housework done today... but the kids were driving me batty!  lol.  I decided to bring them to see Rio at the theatre (it's a treat I've been bribing them with for a few weeks!), so I thought today would be a good day to cash it in since they both had a good week at daycare [and I really, really needed to get out of the house for a bit]!

It was a really cute movie, although it didn't seem to hold their attention as well as others we've seen lately.  Plus, it was the first time I went alone with BOTH kids to the movies, so I felt really divided during the whole movie making sure they both had what they needed.  It was cute afternoon, though, and I'm glad we ventured out for a bit.

When we got home, we played outside a bit and Ruby nibbled on some treats... any idea what's in her bag!?

How cute are they?  Seriously.  So happy they're mine!  ♥

Fun Friday

Fun Fridays

It's the weekend!  A LONG weekend which is going include a ton of chocolate, good food, family and huge smiles plastered all over my kids faces!  Really looking forward to Easter morning, every year it gets more &  more exciting as the kids get older.  Oh, and I'm a simple girl, I cannot get enough of these foil wrapped chocolates, yummy!

To kick off the weekend, I think the kids and I will take advantage of the nice(r) weather and head outside.  Memphis really wants to learn to ride without his training wheels, and Ruby is itching to get the sidewalk chalks out of the closet!

Go ahead and link up with A Girl In Pearls and A Boy With Toys and tell us about your Fun Friday!

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for this little guy...
because he's just so perfectly him.

And because he went for a walk with his daddy, and found these...Yes, I know they're dead, and he tied them together with [what I think is] an old string from a very old mop... BUT, he saw them and wanted me to have them because "Moms love flowers."  He gets it.  :)

We Want To Know Wednesday

Another fun Wednesday linkup, this time courtesy of Implusive addict, Janette, Mamarazzi and Seriously Shawn!

Here are the questions:

{1} Do you make friends easily?
{2} What 3 qualities are a MUST in a friend?
{3} What makes YOU a good friend?
{4} Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life? Yes? Tell us about the meet up. No? Who would you love to meet?
{5} Who is your best friend? Tell us about them

And here are my answers:

{1} Do you make friends easily? Short answer is no. I'm actually VERY shy, and being around people I don,t know at all makes me very uncomfortable. I tend to make new friends by being introduced by a mutual friend or by having something in common... like working at the same place, sending our kids to the same daycares, etc.

{2} What 3 qualities are a MUST in a friend? Dependability, sense of humor and confidence!

{3} What makes YOU a good friend? I'm dependable, loyal and a good pal to have around. I try not to be judgemental, I'm open-minded, funny (I think so, anyway!), quirky... I listen really well, and I'm good at keeping secrets!

{4} Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life? Yes? Tell us about the meet up. No? Who would you love to meet? Unfortunately, not yet. Although most of my "bloggy" friends were real-life friends first, so I'm already met them. I'm looking forward to learning more about blogging and making new friends!

{5} Who is your best friend? Tell us about them. I have a handful of "best" friends and they know who they are... but not to sound too corny... my sister is my best friend. It's so true. We do everything together, we've been there for each other on our worst days, and our best... we laugh together, cry together, fight... At the end of the day, I know she'll always be there for me!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Linking up with Jamie again for What I'm Loving Wednesday... here we go!

Someone Like You - Adele
(Walk off the Earth + Sarah Blackwood)

Beautiful cover... I dare you NOT to like it.

Date night with my hubby!

Okay, by "night" I really mean 3 hours out of the house to catch a scary movie together... but it's better than nothing, right?

...and we're off!  ♥

Scream 4

 Loved it!
It was a terrific throwback to the original.  If you love the Scream movies, you'll definitely enjoy this one.  The best since the original.  We all know sequels can go either way... good or bad.  And sometimes so bad, they're great (Grease 2, anyone!?)...
I have to admit, it was a bit weird at the beginning.  It's been so long since the last movie, and to see the beginning (of a beginning of a Stab movie) was just "in your face, here we go again."  But the plot was good, I jumped at all the right places, and just when I thought I had it figured out... I didn't!
It was a really fun movie, and I was happy to have seen it with my hubby!

Here's a "teaser" for you!  Enjoy!

Maternity Pictures

A couple weeks ago, my cousin's girlfriend asked me if I wouldn't mind taking some pictures of her beautiful belly before the baby arrived.  She's due at the beginning of May, so even though I don't have any experience or much practice with this sort of ''shoot,'' I jumped at the chance!  I had my fingers crossed that I would at least get a dozen or so that they would really love... and I think I did a pretty good job! (not to ''toot my own horn,'' but I wish I had gotten a few shots like these of me & my belly when I was pregnant!)

Whaddya think!?
