I enjoy a good chick flick, romance [or romantic-comedy] as much as the next girl!  In honor of Valentine's Day, I share with you my top 10 romantic movies with a short explanation as to why these films have warmed my heart!

Can I have one last first kiss?
Henry Roth is a man afraid of commitment up until he meets the beautiful Lucy. They hit it off and Henry think he's finally found the girl of his dreams, until he discovers she has short-term memory loss and forgets him the very next day.

This is probably one of the sweetest romantic-comedies I've seen.  It's funny, heart-warming, the scenery is great and I love the Sandler-Barrymore love combo!  I love how persistent Henry is, and I love to see Lucy fall in love with him again every day!

"Listen, Rose. You're gonna get out of here, you're gonna go on and you're gonna make lots of babies, and you're gonna watch them grow. You're gonna die an old... an old lady warm in her bed, not here, not this night. Not like this, do you understand me?"
Sadly, it seems almost 'lame' to keep bringing up this movie... but I did see this movie 3 times in the theatre, and probably within a week or two... not to mention that I purchased it as soon as it came out on VHS(!) and I've watched it half a dozen more time since then.  The ending gets me every.single.time.
The scene where Jack draws her portrait and then they end up all steamy in the car... va va voom!
It was an over the top, totally unlikely love story... or was it?  I totally believe in love at first sight, and I've love to believe to really was a Jack & Rose on that ship.

"I had to come all the way from the highway and byways of Tallahassee, Florida to MotorCity, Detroit to find my true love. If you gave me a million years to ponder, I would never have guessed that true romance and Detroit would ever go together. And til this day, the events that followed all still seems like a distant dream. But the dream was real and was to change our lives forever. I kept asking Clarence why our world seemed to be collapsing and things seemed to be getting so shitty. And he'd say, "that's the way it goes, but don't forget, it goes the other way too." That's the way romance is... Usually, that's the way it goes, but every once in awhile, it goes the other way too."
This Quentin Tarantino scripted film uses the theme of 'boy meets girl.' Here, though, boy meets girl, boy kills girl's pimp, couple takes pimp's coke, and bad boys chase couple. And Elvis is their Guardian Angel....
True Romance might be an unlikely contender, but again... love at first seems to get me every time!

"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough."
When speaking of The Notebook, first things first... Ryan Gosling is dreamy.  I think I might have actually 'swooned' the first time I saw him in this movie.  The pairing was incredible, the love story was believable... and I loved watching it.  Of course, the beginning & ending with the older couple was so perfect and so sad is so many ways.  This is by far one of my favorite movies!

"Landon: I'm sorry she never got her miracle.
"Rev. Sullivan:  She did. It was you."
Young love at it's best. So cute... the kind of movie where you sort of know exactly what's going to happen, and when it does, it still catches you off guard and you find yourself searching desperately for a tissue!

"I bet you've had a hard time walking into a room full of people on your own, right? Yeah. I know that. I know what it is not to feel like your in the room until he looks at you or touches your hand or even makes a joke at your expense, just to let everyone know... you're with him. You're his."
P.S. I Love You. Heart-wrenching.  I don't even want to imagine losing the man I love... which makes this movie hard to watch.... BUT when she starts receiving letters from him and he takes her on such an incredible journey, their love story isn't really done.  Such a beautiful movie... and Gerald Butler isn't too hard to look at either!

"I love you."  " Ditto."
After being killed during a botched mugging, a man's love for his partner enables him to remain on earth as a ghost.  Sam carries a story between a sexy ghost and his mortal woman, a wacky channeled fortune teller and a thief. Sam was one of Patrick Swayze's finest performances.

"Where are his glasses? He can't see without his glasses"
A beautiful young movie about death and love. Friendship and loss.
It's not really "romantic," but it's probably one of the cutest movies ever made... it's so sweet, and I cry like a baby every time.  Even thinking about the scene where Vada is freaking out about his glasses is giving me the sniffles!

"Ooh, see that, there. Who needs affection when I have blind hatred"
Updated version of William Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew," set at the fictional Padua High School in Tacoma where a new transfer student, Cameron, is interested in the popular sophomore Bianca Stratford. But Bianca's overprotective and domineering father forbids Bianca to date unless her older sister Katerina, an unpopular and hostile senior, does. In a bid to get Katerina a boyfriend, Cameron sets up a plan to have the school stud, Joey Donnar, bribe Patrick Verona, an outcast senior with a rumor-filled past, to take the volatile Katerina out on dates so he can go to the school's homecoming dance with Bianca. However, neither Pat or Kat expect their 'going steady' to lead where nobody expects it too.

This was the first time I ever really 'saw' Heath Ledger... and me likee.

"Nobody puts Baby in the corner."

Sorry, I had to.  ;)
Dirty Dancing had the best quote [probably] ever!
I've loved this movie since I was like 8... the end still gives me goosebumps.  Swayze was HOT!
I soooo wished (okay, I still do) that my parents had whisked me off to swanky resort, where I met up with a cute bad-boy dance instructor who taught me how to be a woman!  haha!
