Happy New Year!

"Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right." ~ Oprah Winfrey
Best wishes for 2011!
This has been a pretty great year.  Overall, our health was good, we caught a few lucky breaks, I finally married my best friend, our kids have become smarter, funnier and cuter.  I got a 'promotion' at work.  TV was good... ;)
I'm not one for resolutions, but I will keep going with my 101 List and continue to be the best wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend and employee that I can be.
 Happy New  Year!

A surprise visit...

The daycare was bringing the kids on a tractor/sleigh ride today through town... Memphis missed it because he's still not well, but since both a co-worker & I have kids that attend the daycare, they stopped by our office to sing ' We Wish You  A Merry Christmas' for us.  So cute!  Such a nice treat to see our kids in the middle of the day!

30 Days in Pictures - Day Ten

Day 10 - A picture of your most treasured item

Again, it would be easiest to say MY FAMILY, but since they're not an "item" I'm going to go with my photos.  They mean everything to me!  There's a reason most people would save these if there was a fire or something.  I wish I was better at printing them out more consistently.... but I look at old ones on the computer every day!

30 Days in Pictures - Day Five

Day 5 - A picture of something you love

More specifically - FLATS!
I love them in different patterns, with bows, without bows, sparkly, closed-toe, open toe, metallic, plaid...
I own several (alot!) pairs and  I love pairing them with jeans, leggings or a cute dress.

p.s. Obviously I love my family the most of all - but I'm just trying to switch things up a little... ;)

30 Days in Pictures - Day Four

Day 4 - A picture of someone/something you really miss

My belly, with Ruby, at 40 weeks (she was born 7 days later)
 My belly!
Although it was uncomfortable, especially near the end of my pregnancies, nothing compares to watching your body grow and develop and feeling your baby move inside you.  I am pretty sure we are done having kids, (like 99% sure!)... but I do sometimes look back at pictures and wish I was pregnant again.

30 Days in Pictures - Day Three

Day 3 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show

This is a hard one to narrow down since I'm a big fan of TV.  But I've said it before...
Six Feet Under is my #1.

"A drama series that takes a darkly comical look at members of a dysfunctional California family that runs an independent funeral home."

If you haven't seen it... invest in the box set or borrow it from someone you know.  It ran for 5 seasons.  I didn't watch it when it was on TV, but I watched the entire series on DVD 2 years ago.  It is a wonderfully written show with amazing actors (another Michael C. Hall character you will LOVE).  It's deep, it's funny, it's sad, it's happy... the finale left me in tears.

30 Days in Pictures - Day Two

Day 2 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest

My sister, without a doubt.

I've loved her since the day my parents brought her home (even though I'd been hoping for another brother, so I wouldn't have to share a room or my stuff!).
We've always been close, and despite a few awkward years when I was a teenager and she was just an "annoying little kid" we've definitely remained best friends and have been with each other on every single important day of our lives (weddings, babies, birthdays, graduations).
Love you, Baby Bear

24 & 51

...on my 101 List can be checked off!

#24 - Bring Ruby to the movies for the first time

Yesterday, Ruby attended her first real movie and she loved it!  We went to see Tangled at the old Renfrew O'Brien Theatre and it was a total hit!  My mom came with us and we all really enjoyed it!   Such an incredible film, probably one my favorite Disney ones so far (but I think I say that every time).  There were a few foul characters, one of which was Mother Gothel who Ruby did NOT like at all... especially near the end when she gets particularly nasty.

Waiting for the movie to start, she was so excited!

She couldn't believe how big the screen was!

Memphis & Me

#51 - At Christmas, donate a toy to a child on the local "Angel Tree"

This was another fun one to complete.  It's the first year I've done it, but would to keep the tradition going with the kids every year.  Ruby chose a little 2 year old girl, and Memphis chose a 4 year old boy.  While we were in Renfrew, I let the kids pick out each their own gift with a max price of $20 (I wish I could afford more, the thought of some little kids not getting the Christmas they deserve just breaks my heart).

Ruby picked out an adorable tea set and Memphis got some sort of Hot Wheels kit he said the little boy would love!

Memphis, shopping

Ruby, shopping

What they picked out!
All in all, in a was a pretty perfect day.  And I was able to scratch 2 more items off my list (I'm 7% done)... Yay me!

Thursday, December 9, 2010

At this point, early morning, 3 years ago I was having contractions.  Nothing major and absolutely not consistent.  Was awake but trying to rest since I was being induced at 9pm (7 days overdue at this point).  Was having a pretty uneventful day... contractions would pick up, thought I was going into labor... then they'd stop.  Memphis was at my parents place, so JC & I were really just trying to rest so we'd be prepare for the long night ahead of us.

Ruby had plans of her own... by 4pm I had called the doc and he told me to come ahead in.  After showering and shaving my legs, we got to the  hospital around 5pm.  A bit of laughing gas, and about 4 hours later...
... this beautiful little girl was born and changed our lives forever.

Happy Birthday, Princess!  We love you!

Ruby's Birthday Party

There were only a few people, but seeing as Ruby was sick the night before (just our luck!) it worked out perfectly.
She was happy to see everyone, she loved her present and the cake was delicious!

Mad dash!

Seems like everything is sneaking up on us lately... and Ruby's birthday is no exception.
She's going to be turning 3 next Thursday, December 9th, so we're planning a small family party for this coming Sunday around lunch time.

Although her gifts have been purchased, they still need to be wrapped, and I haven't yet bought anything in the way of party supplies or food... Yikes!  Will have to make a quick trip to the $1 store & grocery store in Renfrew tomorrow to get everything we'll need.  I was also hoping to buy her a new dress for the party, and since she'll be tagging along on our excursion tomorrow, maybe I'll even let her pick it out!

Will post pics on Sunday after the party.  Wish me luck!
