Christmas '08

Another Christmas has come & gone... and this one was great!

Memphis is finally at the age where he really *believes* in it all! We baked gingerbread cookies on Xmas Eve and placed them under the tree for Santa, and he even left a few carrots outside for the reindeer! He got everything he asked for, and even uttered a few oh.my.god.'s while opening his presents. Priceless.

Ruby got a kick out of it as well! Although she mostly played with the wrapping paper and her big brother's new toys...

Seeing them in their new Christmas pj's, surronded by gifts & paper (& chaos!) made Jean-Claude and I so happy & proud. It's kind of hard to remember what Christmas was like before we had kids (and weren't kids ourselves anymore). I loved Christmas growing up, and I hope my kids will grow up loving it all just as much as I did!

I'm already looking forward to next Christmas - the kids will be older and there will a new baby added to the mix... NO! Not me... my sister's baby will be about 7 months by this time next year... can't wait! :)

1st Steps!

And she's off!

The day after her 1st birthday, Ruby took her first few steps... but she has gained much confidence since then and is really starting to get the hang of it. It's amazing to see them walk to you, arms stretched out, for the first time. Melts your heart. :)

However, having been through this once before, I know that after walking comes running... and if I think she's good at getting into things now... there will be no stopping her!

2 toddlers = twice the fun!! ;)

Ruby's 1st Birthday & Some Exciting News

Ruby turned 1 yesterday! Where did the year go... I remember the day she was born like it WAS yesterday. She's getting to be such a big girl, and is almost walking - it won't be long until she's getting into all sorts of trouble! ;)

We had a nice, family get together on Saturday for her birthday - princess themed. She gots lots of nice presies, and really seemed to enjoy her day!

Yesterday, Amanda & Chris went for the "big" ultrasound and found out they are expecting a baby GIRL! I am thrilled. I would have been happy either way, but it's kinda neat that Ruby will have a girl cousin close in age - sort of like a "built-in best friend." Now I can shop gender-specifically and start planning her shower.... how much fun is that going to be!? :)

That's all my news for now!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

... well, as long as JC doesn't mind going out at 7:00 am to shovel and clean off my car anyways! ;)
I am not a winter person. I have never been a winter person. I will never be a winter person. Case in point - my mother used to lock the door behind me when sending me out to play as a child. She wanted to make sure I did more than go out, realize it was cold, and beg to come back in. But I guess the fresh air never hurt...
There is something to be said about waking up to a beautiful blanket of the white stuff... especially when Memphis realizes that he can finally go out and make that snowman he's been talking about for the past few weeks. The kids love it. It makes them happy, and when they're happy, I'm happy. Yay for snow!
It also makes everything feel more "Christmas-ey" - and with a month to go until the big day, what a wonderful way to start the Christmas Countdown!

Welcome to my world!

Let me introduce myself -

My name is Lena, I am inching towards the "big 3-0", work as a receptionist at a local insurance company, have been with the same guy since I was 16 and have not yet said "I do" & probably never will (after 12 years, what's the point? especially when we're happy the way we are - but that's another blog). I have not slept for more than 4 consecutive hours in YEARS, I am constantly stepping on little toys, old food and a cat that never seems to get out of the way in time. I am a mother. I have two wonderful kids. Memphis is 3 and is as precocious, adorable & inquisitive as they come. Ruby is almost 1; she's charming, beautiful and a devil in disguise, I'm sure. The teenage years with her will be interesting, I have no doubt.

This is my blog - a place where I can vent, complain, boast & brag about my life & my kids.
